For a long time, I thought growth meant more.

More space. More staff. More clients. A fuller diary. A bigger business.

And I’m incredibly proud of what I built over those 8 years. But somewhere between building a business and building a family, my priorities started to change.

I realised I didn’t just want a successful business. I wanted a life that felt successful too.

I wanted to make good money, but not at the expense of my time.
I wanted to be ambitious, but still be present with my children.

If you gave me complete control over your treatment plan for the next 12 months… this is exactly what I’d do.

The biggest mistake I see? People choosing treatments in the wrong order.

Think of your face like building a house. You don’t start with the furniture—you build the foundations first.

✨ Quarter 1 | Build the foundation
I’d start by improving the quality of your skin. Treatments such as microneedling or PRF stimulate your own collagen and elastin production, helping your skin become stronger, healthier and more resilient from within. When your skin functions better, every other treatment performs better too.

✨ Quarter 2 | Restore support
Once the skin is healthier, I’d assess the underlying facial structure. As we age, we lose bone support, fat pads shift and ligaments weaken. This is where strategically placed dermal filler can restore support, improve facial balance, replace hydration where it’s been lost and subtly reposition tissue—not to make you look bigger, but to make you look refreshed.

✨ Quarter 3 | Optimise skin health
Now I’d focus on maintaining and enhancing the results. Depending on what your skin needs, I’d choose skin boosters to deeply hydrate and improve luminosity, or polynucleotides to encourage tissue repair and regeneration alongside your collagen-stimulating treatments.

A new client came to me and said

Can one treatment make a difference?

Sometimes it can, yes.

But can one treatment completely transform your skin?

In most cases, no — and I think it’s really important to be honest about that from the start.

One of the most common things I hear in consultations is, “I had one session elsewhere, but I didn’t really notice anything.”

And my response is usually the same, because the truth doesn’t change: Rome wasn’t built in a day, and neither is healthy, resilient skin.

The treatments I work with aren’t about masking things temporarily. They’re about encouraging your own skin to do what it’s designed to do — repair, regenerate, and build collagen and elastin.

And that’s a process that takes time, consistency and commitment.

Can we normalise building businesses that support our lives… not consume them?

For a long time, I was in the trap that success meant getting bigger.

A bigger clinic.
More treatment rooms.
More staff.
More overhead.
More hours.

But somewhere along the way, I realised I wasn’t building a business around the life I wanted… I was building my life around my business.

Becoming a mum completely changed my perspective. (Despite being adamant I would still have the energy for my clinic 🙄)

Success now looks different to me... and I had to admit it.

It’s having the flexibility to be present with my children. It's having money to spend on climbing frames and holidays for my kids over spare money being eaten with running premises costs.
It’s creating a calm, private space where my clients never feel rushed.
It’s doing work I genuinely love, without feeling burnt out trying to keep up with someone else’s definition of success.

This studio might be smaller than my previous clinic, but it feels bigger in all the ways that matter.

I think social media has made us believe that every business has to keep expanding to be successful. But sometimes the bravest thing you can do is simplify.

Unhinged reasons clients chose another practitioner… 👀

No judgement… but these all genuinely happened.

✨ “They advertised 1.1ml syringes.”
More product doesn’t automatically mean better results. You’re not paying for the number on the syringe—you’re paying for the assessment, skill, anatomy knowledge and knowing exactly how much your face needs to achieve balanced, natural results. Sometimes that’s less, sometimes it’s more.

✨ I refused to treat a jawline.
A client wanted a softer, more feminine appearance. I explained that adding jawline filler would likely make her look more masculine—the complete opposite of her goal. She went elsewhere anyway… and later came back asking me to help correct it.

✨ “Can we split a 1ml syringe between two people?”
I explained why I don’t share syringes between clients. Sterility, traceability and patient safety aren’t negotiable for me. She found someone who would.
