Rosacea is a chronic inflammatory skin condition thought to be caused by a combination of factors, including an overactive immune response, increased skin sensitivity, and dilation of superficial blood vessels, which leads to persistent redness, flushing, and visible capillaries. Triggers such as heat, alcohol, stress, and certain skincare products can further aggravate these symptoms. IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) works by delivering specific wavelengths of light into the skin that are selectively absorbed by the haemoglobin within these dilated blood vessels. This light energy is converted into heat, gently causing the vessels to constrict and break down, which reduces redness and improves overall skin tone. At the same time, IPL helps to calm underlying inflammation and can stimulate collagen production, supporting a stronger, more resilient skin barrier over time.

A personal note....
Rosacea is something I’ve personally struggled with for as long as I can remember, so I truly understand how frustrating and confidence-impacting it can be. The constant redness, the flushing, the unpredictability… it’s not just a skin concern, it’s something you feel day to day. IPL has been a huge part of my own skin journey. I’ve had this treatment myself to help calm my skin and reduce redness, and it’s made such a noticeable difference — not just in how my skin looks, but in how it feels. That’s why this is one of my personal favourites to offer in clinic. I know first-hand how effective it can be when done correctly and gently, and my approach is always to treat your skin with the same care and consideration I would my own.
