A guide to treating Scars with Danielle Mae
Scarring can leave the skin feeling uneven, tight, or textured long after the skin has healed. My treatments are designed to gently remodel scar tissue, rebuild collagen, and restore a smoother, more refined appearance. With regenerative techniques, we can soften the look of scars and support healthier, stronger skin over time.

Scarring forms when the skin repairs itself after injury, trauma, acne, or surgery. During healing, collagen fibres can knit together in a disorganised or “stuck down” pattern, creating indentations, raised areas, or tightness in the tissue. In some cases, scar tissue becomes tethered — meaning it is attached to deeper layers of the skin, pulling the surface down and creating a sunken or uneven appearance. Regenerative treatments help by gently disrupting this old, rigid collagen and releasing the adhesions that keep the skin tethered. Once these fibres are softened or “reattached” correctly, the body begins to lay down fresh, healthy collagen in a smoother, more structured pattern. This natural remodelling process gradually lifts indentations, improves texture, and blends the scar more seamlessly with the surrounding skin. Over time, with consistent treatment, scars can become flatter, softer, lighter, and far less visible. The skin becomes more flexible, more even, and more supported from within.

Microneedling
Microneedling is one of the most effective treatments for improving scar tissue because it triggers the skin’s natural repair process.
Microneedling benefits for scarring:
-
Creates controlled micro-injuries that break down tight or uneven scar tissue
-
Stimulates fibroblasts to produce fresh collagen and elastin
-
Helps remodel older, rigid collagen fibres into a smoother structure
-
Improves the appearance of ice-pick, boxcar, rolling, and surgical scars
-
Encourages the skin to “fill” and lift areas of indentation over time
-
Enhances overall texture, softness, and skin tone
-
Works cumulatively, with results improving over several sessions

LED Light Therapy
Dermalux LED uses clinically proven wavelengths to support healing, reduce inflammation, and help the skin regenerate more effectively.
Dermalux LED benefits for scarring:
-
Red LED boosts fibroblast activity and stimulates collagen production
-
Near-infrared LED accelerates wound repair and improves deeper tissue healing
-
Helps minimise inflammation, redness, and pigmentation within scar tissue
-
Supports smoother, healthier collagen formation after microneedling
-
Enhances overall skin recovery and reduces downtime
-
Improves skin clarity, softness, and resilience with consistent use
-
Safe for all skin types, including sensitive and post-inflammatory scar-prone skin
